The Best Way to Clean and Maintain Your Perfect-fit Blinds

Hey there! Are you wondering how to keep your Perfect-fit blinds looking their best? These blinds are a fantastic choice for any room in your home, thanks to their seamless and snug fit inside any window frame.

And the best part? You don’t need to drill or use screws to install them!

But like any window treatment, Perfect-fit blinds can get dusty and dirty over time, so let’s look into how you can keep your blinds in tip-top shape.

How to Clean Your Blinds

Cleaning your blinds might seem like a daunting task, but it’s actually pretty simple! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started with cleaning your Perfect-fit blinds from FJB:

Gather Your Materials

Before you start cleaning, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. You’ll need a hoover with a soft brush attachment (if you have one), microfiber cloths, washing-up liquid, warm water, and baking soda. Don’t worry. You don’t need any fancy tools!

Close The Blinds

The first step is to fully close your blinds. If you have wood or faux wood blinds, you can close them completely. But if you have vinyl or aluminium blinds with overlapping slats, tilt them downward but not completely closed.

Dust The Blinds

Start by wiping the blinds with a microfiber cloth from the top down. If you have vertical blinds, hold the bottom of the blind with one hand to stabilise it. For horizontal blinds, wipe from side to side.

We recommend working from the top to the bottom slat so dust doesn’t fall on areas you’ve already cleaned. If you have a hoover with a soft dusting brush attachment, you can use that instead to remove dust quickly.

Flip The Blinds And Repeat

Flip your blinds so the other side faces you, and repeat the process with your microfiber cloth or vacuum. Now both sides of your blinds should be dust-free!

Use A Damp Cloth On Heavily Soiled Blinds

Use a damp microfiber cloth with warm water if your blinds are heavily soiled. Be careful not to get your blinds too wet if you have wooden blinds.

For layered fabric blinds, avoid using a hoover as this can negatively affect the layers of fabric through pulling and stretching due to the suction.

Deep-Clean If Necessary

If your vinyl or aluminium blinds are in the kitchen and exposed to grease, residue, or stubborn dust, they may need a deep clean.

Take the blinds off the window and place them in a bathtub with warm water, a few generous squirts of dish soap, and a cup of baking soda. Let the blinds soak for about an hour, then rinse with warm water and wipe away any excess dirt or dust.

Hoover Away Excess Dust

If you just ran a damp cloth over your blinds, open them and let them air-dry. Hoover any remaining dust that fell onto the windowsill or floor while you were dusting.

That’s it! With these simple steps, you’ll have clean and dust-free blinds in no time.

How Should I Clean My Window Blinds Frame

When cleaning your Perfect-fit blinds, remembering the frame is essential. After all, a clean frame can make all the difference in the overall appearance of your blinds.

So, how do you clean the window frame? Well, you can clean it in the same way you tend your UPVC window frame. But vinegar is a great option if you’re looking for a specific cleaning product for your Perfect-fit frame.

To use vinegar as a cleaning product for your Perfect-fit frame, all you need to do is mix one part vinegar with four parts water. Then, wipe the solution onto the surface of the frame and leave it for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, smooth off the solution with a clean cloth. And voila! Your Perfect-fit frame should look as good as new.

How Often Should I Be Cleaning Perfect-Fit Blinds?

Now that you’ve installed your Perfect-fit Blinds, you might wonder how often you should clean them. Well, we’ve got you covered!

We recommend dusting your blinds every week to prevent dust build-up. This will make your life easier in the long run, as the more often you dust your blinds, the less often you’ll need to do a deep clean. Plus, by dusting regularly, you’ll prevent the dust from getting too bad and potentially causing damage.

As for deep cleaning, we recommend doing this once a month. However, it’s important not to overdo it, as deep cleaning too often can cause damage over time. So, stick to a monthly cleaning schedule, and your Perfect-fit Blinds should last for decades.

Do I Need to Remove Perfect-Fit Blinds to Clean Them?

For everyday cleaning, you do not need to remove your perfect-fit blinds; however, for deep cleaning, it may be necessary.

Perfect-fit blinds are super easy to remove for deep cleaning. That’s right – all you need to do is unclip them from the window with a firm pull on each corner.

This makes it easy to take the blinds down and clean them thoroughly and gives you access to the window itself for cleaning.

By taking the time to remove and deep clean your Perfect-fit blinds, you’ll be able to keep them looking great for years to come. So, don’t be afraid to give them a little TLC next time you clean your windows!
